I would make the poems no longer than one page because a SASS committee will select the best ones to be displayed and voted on by those attending the Abolitionist Fair. The longer ones tend to get ignored. They can use any poetic format they want, from an “I am” poem to a Shakespearean sonnet. (OK the latter probably would not win)."
