i don't know if this is the right article. i think thomas friedman is trying to say that the israeli/palestinian war is on a border line. he thinks that the israeli people are pretty much looking for a reason to put something over the palestinians.yes he understands that some people thought it was there for protection from bombers, but the palestinians see it as a gesture of war therfore friedman wrote"The trust deficit is exacerbated by the fact that after Israel quit the Gaza Strip in 2005, Palestinians, instead of building Singapore there, built Somalia and focused not on how to make microchips, but on how to make rockets to hit Israel.". it wasn't a choice everyone could make.
