What Pilkington and Frederick said was just gruesome. They said that rebelling against the laws of nature turned the animals to wickedness, canibalism, and torturing each other. That is just awful! I think they represent the other countries in the world that were against communism.

Hey Guys & Gals,
You have been making some really insightful comments! Excellent job interpreting the story and relating it to the Russian Revolution & Communism. Keep up the good work everyone!

Pilkington said that the rebelling against the laws of nature turned the animals towards wickedness. I think that is partially true since the animals had a battle against the men. Kicking people in the heads and digging claws into their shoulders is not really considered humane or anything. So I would say that the battle would be something wicked. But in everyday life the animals don't tend to be wicked. So Pilkington and Frederick were also partially wrong.

The animals conflicted over the running of the farm because Snowball wanted to build a windmill so that the animals would only have to work three days a week and Nepoleon wanted things to stay the same so that animals would continue to have abundant supplies of food. Nepoleon reminds me of Stalin with the whole mentality of get rid of anyone who disagrees with the communist beliefs. Which is what he did to Snowball. It's definately very similar to what was happening in Russia. With the building of the windmill, will there end up being a famine just like in the Ukraine because everyone is overworked and underfed?

Napoleon wanted the run of the farm. He has been plotting it all along, probably since even before he took the puppies. However, Snowball spoke so well, that he couldn't win favor. He had to get rid of Snowball. Napoleon argued with all of Snowball's ideas to create indecision among the animals, which would make it easier for them to accept decisions. Napoleon plotted Snowball's downfall. He wants to be in charge. I wonder if Stalin plotted Lenin's downfall, too.

Pilkington and Fredrick said that they were goign against and not following the laws and this cn be like the case with Russia and that the pople began to realize that they were rebelling aginst the country and were not following the ;aws of their country. So they are breaking the rules.

Craig Williams said...

Russia wasnt following the rules at all. they were rebelling against the country.

Pilkington said that the rebelling of against the laws of humanity, turned that poor hard working animals towards wickedness. I think all of this is true, because kicking people in the heads, and digging claws into peoples shoulders is not really considered wisdom or humane. I think the animals represent the other countries in world that are or were against communism.

Napolean, and snowball were arguing over the running of the farm because Napolean has been planning it all along, probably before since he took the puppies into his care. And snowball spoke so well, true, and fluently that he couldn't win a favor or get a vote. Napolean plotted snowball's loss in who would get to run the farm, Napolean wanted or wants to be in charge since the start of the story.

Ch.4 (Shanice and Nia)
When you mess with the laws of nature they said that the animals turn into torted eachother and mistreated their females.

Ch.5
They conflicted over running the farm because they both had differnt views on what should be done. One wanted to get weapons and learn to use them for defense and the other wanted to build a windmill. Napeolean secretly was planning to destroy snowball so that he can take over. He trained the dogs to be fierce with everyone else but Napolean, he had a plan to take over.

Chapter 4:
(group Julie,Rachel,Thra,Emilie)

There are 2 new farmers introduced in this chapter. Pilkington ran a big, kind of unkept farm, and Frederick ran a small neat farm. But both were scared of Animalism and they made up awful things about it. They said that the animals resorted to canibalism due to famine and they tortured each other. That is what came of rebelling againtst nature.

Also, for chapter 5 I agree with Rachel because Napoleon was being selfish when he decided he would rather sacrifice the comfort and freedom of the animals and for more of what he wanted. This reminded me of Stalin because his workers were overworked so that he could have the profits of their labour.Whereas Snowball was more like Trotsky. He felt that the happiness of the 'people' was better than any material thing he could posess.

Chapter 4:According to Pilkington and Frederick the animals on the farm "practiced cannibalism, tortured one another with red-hot horseshoes, and had their females in common." I believe that they told Mr.Jones this to make him feel better about being thrown out of his own farm. They made it seem as if the animals were doing crazy, radical things with his absence.

Chapter 5: Napoleon and Snowball conflicted over the running of the farm because they always had opposing views. They both wanted their opinions to be heard and accepted but this caused backlash because of how different both of them were.

BrittneyB said...

Pilkington and Frederick said the animals were turned to wickedness, branding themselves with hot irons, and canibalism. I think they were only saying this to comfort themselves with thinking that the animals were savages and that they were better than them. I agree with Elena in saying that Frederick and Pilkington stand for the other countries that opposed communism.

BrittneyB said...

Napoleon wanted to get Snowball out of the way so he could take leadership. Of course most of the animals found favor with Snowball so Napoleon had to get rid of him. At first I thought that the windmill might have stood for the Trans Siberian Railroad but then I realized that the Trans Siberian Railroad was built when The Czar was still in charge. So what does it stand for?

Elena said...

Brittney, that was not exactly right. Pilkington and Frederick aren't trying to comfort themselves by saying what they said. They are trying to keep their animals from turning to animalism as well.

Chapter 4
What was rebelling to Pilkington and Fredrick against the Laws of Nature was that since they were anxious about the animals finding out on the rebellion, they had to laugh and scorn about it. They had once thought that the animals would have to take care of themselves and called it a Manor Farm. Since they wouldnt tolerate the name, they would have fight against each other and rapidly starve. Once Pilkington and Fredrick had talked on the Animal Farm of the terrible wickedness, it seem that the farm then became flourished, it had given out that animals had been practing cannoblism and tourtured each others with red hot horse-shoes.

Chapter 5
Napoleon and Snowball conflict over the running of the farm because Snowball had been chased by enormous dogs that dashed into the barn. Snowball was lucky that he got away because the dags were on his heels, one of the dogs had almost snapped Snowballs tail. At once he had been running as fast as a pig then after he got up and fell and picked up his speed and made him faster than ever.

My wonderous group members Rachel and Emilie have already posted, but Thra has not, and I would like to give my little insight on Question 1:

The two farmers told their animals and each other that when you rebel against the laws that rule, you end up with complete chaos. There will be cannibalism, torture, and low self-respect, as well as respect for the females of the farm. They believed that life changed as everyone knew it.

Neecie said...

-Shanice
Shanice Nia and Kyana
The result to them was evilness. They believe the animals killed each other and ate each other (otherwise known as cannibalism).

Julie said...

And to answer question 2,

They conflicted simply because there were too many chiefs and not enough Indians. They both wanted to lead. If Napoleon had gone along with one of Snowballs ideas or vise-versa, they would appear weak, and as if the other one was smarter and had better ideas. Opposing them was the only way that they could maintain their strength.

Neecie said...

I think Napoleon is jealous and had no real ideas but was just against Snowball. They didn't want to share leadership with the animals. They conflicted over the building of the windmill the most and how it should be built.

Chapter 4: In this chapter two new farmers are introduced, pilkington and Frederick. They were scared of animalism and started to make things up about the animals and animalism that wasn't true. They believe when you rebel against the laws you only get total chaos. They said that rebelling against laws turned the animals of the farm to wickedness, caninalism, and torturing each other, which is a complete lie. These two farmers are obvioulsy the countries that were against communism during the Russian Revolution.

chapter 5:
Group Members(Me, Alan, and Ben)

I believe that Napoleon and Snowball fought over who should run the farm because they always had differenet views on everything. When two people have different opinions on something they tend to fight. Since the two different views on what was best for the farm, Napoleon had secret plans to take out Snowball. Napoleon had his dogs be mean and attack anybody but himself because he wanted to have total control over the farm.

Chapter 4:
Frederick and Pilkington said that wickedness flourished on Animal Farm because they rebelled against the laws of nature. they also said that the animal began torturing each other and things like that.

Chapter 5:
Napoleon and Snowball conflicted because they both wanted to have full control over the farm. The problem was that each wanted to do it on their own, and overrule the other. If they agreed with each others ideas, it would make the other one seem weak in a sense, or as if they couldnt come up with good enough ideas of heir own. For each of them to feel in control, they wanted their rules to be the ones the farm followed, and this couln't be done without there being conflict.

And since neither of my group members (Shannon and Sabrina) have posted comments, I'm going to make a couple comments on other posts classmates have made.

I agree 100& with Elena and Aaron on the comments they made about Pilkington and Frederick being the countries that were against communism

Also, i agree with Julie's answer for chapter 5. They just kept on opposing each other. I disagree with Shanice's (Neecie's) comment about Napoleon being jealous, because i think that both of them really were just trying to overrule each other on every desicion.

Shannon said...

Chapter 4: Pilkington and Frederick said that rebelling against the laws of nature caused the animals to basically go berserk and torture one another and be wicked.

Chapter 5: Napoleon and Snowball conflicted because they both wanted complete control over the farm. If one agreed with the other then he would seem weak and they wanted to seem strong to gain control. This caused constant disagreement and conflict.

Shannon said...

I also agree completely with my partner Ana, even though she called me out so doggedly. Her answer to both questions were accurate.

Pilkington stateed that rebellion against the laws of nature turned the animals to wickedness. i think that this is a direct example of the people during the time of the Russian Revolution rebelling against their government and resorting to gruesome ways.

There was a major conflict between Snowball and Nepoleon because simply Snowball wanted to help make the far a better place for all of the animals with the windmill but Nepoleon didnt want it so he simply had Snowball kicked off of the farm.

At this point Nepoleon has some similarities to Stalin who removed whoever got in his way. This is what Nepoleon did with Snowball.

According to Pilkington and Frederick what came of rebelling against the laws of nature where that the animals were going to practice canibalism and torture eachother and show low respect for the females so basically they said the animals were going to cause craziness and chaos.

Sabrina said...

Chapter 4:
The animal became canibals, they tortured eachother and they were all starving, which was not true.

Sabrina said...

Chapter 5:
Snowball wanted to bbuild a windmill to create more food, so that they allways have food. Napoleon thought that the windmill entailed too much work and he thought that the animals should focus on their current need instead of long term.

if the animals go aginst the law of nature they will become inhumaine and start mistreating eachother. snowball and napolean conflicted about how to run the farm snowball wants less work and napolean wants to keep the work constant. napolean reminds me of stalin because he just gets rid of anyone of who rebels against him

Katrina said...

the animals just turned crazy and into real animals as in canimals eating animals on the food chain

Chance said...

[Chance & Safreeca]

Napolean and Snowball had a conflict simply because they both had different views on who should run the farm and how. Napolean wanted to have a short turn goal that would help them now rather than having a long term goal and helping them in the end.

I thought it was really gnorant when Pilkington said that any type of rebellion lead to Wickedness and so on. This was very small minded and just showed the mindseet of the time.

JOSH:y would pilkington say that any rebellion would lead to wickedness. But yet you couldnt blame the man because life then was soo hard.aso they felt as if everything was upsetting and nothing was worth excitement.

4 and 5 (Alejandro, Kazimir, Shan, and Suhayb)

Kazimir
Fredrick and pilkington were going to change the name of the farm and the rules. The animals found out them and they fought each other. They practiced canibalism and tochered each other with red hot horse shoes but a plikington and fredrick chose not to.snowball was running from a dogs and triped and almost got bitten but got away by running faster.

what do you think snowball running means to the story?

Anonymous said...

suhayb..

two new characters were introduced pinkerton and frederick.. each of their views were diffrent. and disaggreed with animalism.. but pinkerton tried to change the rules and everryone didnt agree with that..and there was rebellion against. the law. just like in communist russia..

in chapeter 5 snowball was chased by a dog a four legged creature that by their previous law was a freind, but it was now seen that that was wrong and false statement and.. that the commandments were false

Katrina said...

Napoeleon and Snowball argued over the farm because Napoeleon didn't want there to be a windmill but Snowball did. But in the end, Napoeleon lied the whole time just so he can get rid of Snowball. though, Snowball was the good one and Napoeleon is just tricking them.

SAFREECA said...

In these chapters Napolean and Snowball had a fight about leadership and the down fall of animalisum begins. I believe with what Pilkington said about since the animals went against the law of nature made the animals turn to the wickedness they displayed.

Herbert said...

Pilkington and Fredrick said that rebelling agains the laws of nature would lead to bad things wickedess. the animals wouldn't survive if all the things they are talking about really would happen because they talked about torture no law death canibalism all of that bad stuff. None of his has happend but the animals have been behaving somewhat rebelious like when the 2 pigs said they need the milk and apples to think but thats a lie they were just hungry. That was something that them being in charge led to. They faught over the running of the farm because one of them wanted to do somehtng and another didnt agree with that and one wanted to do something else like snowball wanting to build a windmill so they wouldn't hae to work as much but napoleon said that wouldn't work because they would therefore not have enough supplies and food. I think Napoleon want to have all the control to himself..
