There are many friends and foes in the Middle East. Many of friends pose challenges to us and many of our foes actually helps us in a way. Using your chart and profile today, discuss what challenges we have to our relationships in the Middle East. Which foes should we be concerned about? What friends have we neglected? there are a bunch of religious, terrorist, political and other ruops in the middle east that it would be impossible to be friends with all, you have to join one side and only one side.
i think that we are doing a bad job so far with keeping up with our friend and our foes. the reason why i think this is becouse when we are meeing up our relationships with some of our oldest friends, like egypt. we are sayoing one thing and then we are no ware to be found when they come around looking for help. in egypt we said that we would help out with stuff like democracry,a nd show that we suport them, but we dont do it, or we dont look into it deep enough. the people there are being jailed becouse of their opinions, and beleifs.
i think that america should watch out for all of the countries that we have susptions about, and make sure that they dont do anything that could harm us in the future. i also think that we are should support our friends alot more instead of staying in for a short amount of timem, and them moving on.

i think tht we have neglected Egypt as our friend because we are not taking none or there thoghts into concideration and we are doing a lot of things to piss Egypt off like be friending there leader Hosni Hubarak. i think that we should worry about Syria and Iran because Bush clames that they have wepons of mass destruction and could harm America. i think that the most challenges that we have with the middle east is trying to impress them and not get on there bad side so that wwe will not make more foes and more friends.

I believe that by continuing the war in Iraq th U.S. is neglecting their other Middle Eastern allys because there are very few people in the Middle East who support the war because so many people are being killed. Our foes are all terrorists but there probably wouldn't be as much terrorism in the Middle East if the war in Iraq was ended.
I think that friends are more closer to us than foes. Friends communicate the proper way nd foes tell u want u want to here. I agree with Dijon r. Brooks with America needs to watch out for all of the coutries that we have susptions about. I agree with him because those are the people who are the foes to us nd they will do anything behind our backs to et their point across, maybe not now but sometime in the future.
i think that it would be difficult to be friends with certain people in the middle east.For example i say this because there alot of religious and other groups not everyone likes to be apart of that.. I also say that is not right to through someone in jail based on what they believe is right.. Like for example people were thrown in jail if they thought something wasnt wrong...i disagree with this because i think everyone should have the opportunity to choose their own choices not what other people might think....
Our relationships with the leaders from places like Isreal,Paleistine,
Turkey, and Iran are all different. We are friends with both Isreal and Palestine and they are almost the same, they both support peace and Mahmoud Abbas, the Prime Mister of Palestine was elected his position but the United States. We are also friends with the leader from Turkey. He supports the war on Iraq, but however, they wont let us use their space to invade Northern Iraq. Iran is one of our foes. They sponsor terrorism and are secretly creating nuclear weapons. This isnt something that we want to be involved with. In Egypt, the people resent the Americans for their help and they dont look at America for a role model.There are problems with Egypt and other countries and we should do our best to re-enstate our friendship with our now foes.
i think that there are many foes that the US and we shouldnt be concerned about all of them. For example, Egypt doesn't seem like a big concern, they just disagree with the war in Iraq. they also think that americans hate all Muslims that is also not true. Some of the things that they are concerned with are misunderstandings. I think that the US should be aware of all of our foes but not deeply concerned about what they are going to do next, not all of them are a threat.
Relationships with all of the leaders of Middle Eastern countries due to our many different viewa and opinions, ethically, religously, and politically. We can try to be allies but there are simply too many things we could disagree on. Also, knowing how most poloticians act, they are not willing to compromise or change their ways.
I think that the U.S is doing a bad job of keeping track of its friends. For example, Egypt. We were friends, and Im not saying that we arent anymore, but the people in Egypt believe that there should be peace and no War. They said that they dont hate the people or America in general, just Bush and his administration. In Egypt, a young woman didn't believe in the war and decided that she was no longer going to buy anything American made. A reporter also went into Old Cairo and asked many of the people's opinions on America and the war. When one man was asked, he thought that America was after the Muslims and he also said that he didn't hate America, just the war. Many people in Egypt are ready for Democracy and want their current President and his police and his government. They have many people put in Jail for going against the President such as a professor in The University of America in Egypt. He spoke out and was out in jail for 15 months and then he was realeased. I guess the current president doesn't want democracy, but others feel they do. I guess we should make sure that we keep friends with Egypt, and have respect for their opinions.
I dont thinkit is possible to become friends with evey single person i think the ones we a friends with now we should keep and not try to make friends with the foes because maybe were better off without them plus there are just way to many to try and make friends with in the first place
the u.s. is having a nad time with its friends and foes in the middle east because the u.s. just wants the quick fix. take eygpt for example they are ready for democracy. how ever america is scared of losing the short tirm lose of a friend. when in the long term with eygpt as a democratic nation would be an even better ally then they are now in my oppinion.
For many years we have been having an issue with people in the Middle East because so many of them are split in the way that they feel. We shouldn't have to fear all Middle Easterns, the terrorists are the sure fire ones to look out for. They don't like some of the things that America dos just like we might not like some of the stuff that they do either. I'm sure that some small population of the people there think different from them and they like us, but we can't say what they want because they are afraid of what will happen and we need to help them so that can be fixed. I believ that there are some gray areas when it comes to our relationship because I'm sure we don't exactly go with whatthey go with on some things like government or leaders, but we still buy the oil from them and fraternize as though we are friends and I don't believe that we should do this because to me as an American citizen I would see America as a very hypocritical country and many people don't like hypocrits.
to me are friends areok..butour foes need to be really determined. For examnple we said that we will help assist Egypt.We never stick to our word. its seems to me that we need to really map thi out. We have alot of riends and the same amount of foes to so we need to do our best to just do us.

I think the people in Egypt would be our friends {I'm saying their not} if only the Bush Administration would stop being so concerning about themselves. Also,to stop worring about other things that's not important and start to focus on countries that need our help. In a movie I seen today, This lady is concerned so much about America that she doesn't even want to buy American products. That's a shame. I wish things would not be so difficult in other countries and that Bush and his company would now start to focus on depending countries instead of themselves.

I agree with Dijon I do think that the U.S is doing a good job of keeping track of its' friends. A good example is Egypt was one of our oldest friends. Some of our mistakes are when we say that we are going to do something and we do not live up to what we are saying to the people.In Egypt we said that we were going to assist them with their needs, but when the time comes for the job to get done the U.S does nothing to help.By us saying that we are going to help them but we don't it causes them to have troubles and all of this is happening because of the U.S.Like Dijon states I think that the U.S should not be so close with some of those countries because we are doing things to them making promises we do not keep and in the long run they are going to remember what we did. At that point the U.S is going to be in a lot of trouble.
The challeges with our relationships in the Middle East is that not all of the countries get along so if we are friends with one country we are automaticlly foes with another. i think we should be concerned about the foes with the terriorist groups because they can be sneaky. I also think we have neglected the ones that have always been behind the U.S and supported us. Lastly, i think our friendships should be based on the countries that support the U.S, because it seems like everytime we go into a country and try and make it better not everyone believes its for the better.
Well, I think that we have neglected Turkey. Like, they are a friend and all, but it still seems like we are just on the border line with them. On my chart today in class, I put Turkey as "unclear" because they rejected our forces, but they accepted or agreed with everything else. So it seems like they are just on the border with.
I think we have more foes than friends, We are so nosy and always in someone else's business. We make a little relationship with countries but don't do much to help them and we kind of just forget about them. Countries that once loves us now are looking away because of our government and policies. We need to keep the friend we have and slowly try to make more. Its like if you meet 50 people you wont rely be good friends with all of them but if u talk to 5 of them more you may become more friends. So wee need to keep what we have and stop making people mad and not like us.
Most of the countries in the middle east are un predictable and i believe they could strike us because they already have.

They seem to have a bad view on us because of President Bush and the decisions hes made about the war in Iraq. some of these views have gone so far that some of the younger generation in Egypt is going back to there old beliefs and boycotting American products. i also think that we need to pay attention to some of our foes more closely. this is because there are rumors going around saying that some of them are trying to spread terrorism and are aginst making peace with other countries. so overall i think that we need to start paying close attention to all the countries in the middle east wether there friend or foe so we know whats going on and what could happen.
I think a country that we should really worry about is Syria. Syria is viewed by U.S. policy makers as a sponsor of terrorism and a threat to the peace. That in reality really should be something that the United States should be concerned. But on the other side we still have a good relationship with Saudi Arabia and President Bush shows that by meeting with the King and that shows that we do indeed have a good connection. Yet there are still countries like Egypt that has people that protest the war in Iraq, but the thing is they don’t so much hate the Americans, they hate Bush just like some hate their king. But in reality those people just disagree with the war and with what’s going on. Our relationships should be based on everything. For example not every country we have as a friend has to be the same, but all of them all together should be an oil-producing country and a democratic country.

Us americans have alot more friends than foes because we try to bond with other countries so we can get most of the stuff from other countrys. Sometimes we have a friend and their friend might be a foe and they might want to get to us by our friends. Yeah i aslo agree with dihon because they should watch out for the terrist attack against like we had 9/11.

A: The challenges we have in our relationship towards the Middle East are whether they are for us or against us. In the beginning a class we examined a picture of President Bush and Crown Prince Abdullah, now the king of Saudi Arabia. They're relationship is very close because they are in a rose garden holding hands. In Saudi Arabia this is a sign of friendship, and thee peaceful look on their face seems to show that they are friends." The countries in the Middle East that befriend the United states are Saudi Arabia and Turkey. We need to watch out for Syria and Iran because they support terrorists and have a bad reputation. George Bush blames Iran for having possesion of nuclear weapons and we have had a war with them. We have an unclear relationship with Egypt, because they are becoming too picky choosy, and we don't want to start any trouble with anyone. Turkey wants to be a democracy and they favor ereedom of speech, and the United States likes this. Saudi Arabia has given a lot of support to our soldiers in Iraq, they are major oil exportes, and they work with U.S. agencies cooperatively. This is why they are considered a friend. Cyro, Egypt is a place where the people have strong opinions, but we shouldn't have to worry.
I believe that we have some good allies but i think that we are kind of slacking with are allies. Like in the documentary we watched yesterday we have the Palestinians who say we dont have any problems with America, but they talk bad about are decisions, so they are undecided, so thats an perfect example why are head is not rite with are friends or foes.

I think that the Middle East are our enemy because we go over there with all of our weapons and all that big talk about peace and helping them out and all we're doing is boming them and killing children, Women, teenagers that we don't even realize we're killing because we as a country want peace but we don't know how much damage we've done and we don't know if someone might come and damage our country like we did them

I don't think its going to be easy for the Us to become friends with the terriots beacuse its already came down to a big war that has been decleared so now there's nothing we can do but sit back and watch everything unfold...~JAde~
